1- You need to schedule your time wisely

You can always add on to this if you’re feeling especially energetic or the mess is simply driving you mad, but make sure you schedule the time into your day in advance so you’re prepared for the task.

This process can be difficult but it’s important to stay focused and resist the urge to cling onto items that don’t bring any happiness into your life.
3- Purge your wardrobe
For many of us, our clothing closet is where the worst of our cluttering crimes take place. You may have pieces stored in there that haven’t seen the light of day in decades. Kondo advises taking all of the items out of your wardrobe, separating them into seasonal piles and then creating a ‘keep’ pile and a ‘donate’ pile. Nothing should be thrown away to end up in a landfill – there are probably plenty of people out there who would love to wear your unwanted items! Try not to be sentimental about your clothing – a few good quality staple garments can create the perfect capsule wardrobe.
4- Tackle your clutter in categories
Clearing up your space can be overwhelming, especially if you’re a naturally untidy person. Kondo recommends breaking the task down into categories. Unlike other housework gurus, she chooses to create categories of items rather than working through one room at a time. The order is specific, too: clothes, books, papers, random ‘stuff’, and sentimental items.
5- Get rid of the clutter before stressing about storage
Many people get in a panic when the topic of home organisation comes up because they feel like they simply don’t have the storage space required to maintain a neat, attractive home.
